Software Test Engineer
Our Opportunity
GroundProbe is seeking a Software Test Engineer with a minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience to join our team in Balikpapan, to ensure stability, availability and reliability of GroundProbe software products through the planning and execution of functionality based user testing.
Main Activities of this role include:
• Work safely, and with regard to the safety of others, including:
- Compliance with all WHS policies and procedures
- Actively work to improve safety in the workplace.
• Work safely, and with regard to the safety of others, including identification and eliminations of hazards in the workplace. Build safety into designs and methods of working.
• Lead the software testing effort to ensure quality product delivery of software features and functionality that meet or exceeds customer expectations.
• Defining and writing test procedures, test cases and test plans for the purpose of validation of GroundProbe software products.
• Execution and recording of tests for all assigned projects / features either in-house or off-site locations (local quarries and mine sites).
• Analysis and reporting of test activities and results.
• Develop and execute project test plans.
• Raising any defects found during test and escalating in accordance with set procedures.
• Tracking progress of allocated test designs and test cases to ensure testing deadlines will be met.
• Work directly with customers to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve technical issues associated with GroundProbe software products that have been escalated to Product Development, taking ownership until a solution is reached.
• Accurately record issue resolution in designated tracking software, escalating priority issues to Product Development Manager for action and resolution by development team.
• Provide input into the development of new features and product enhancements to ensure we deliver market-leading products.
• Develop methods to automate testing using test scripts and automation test tools (e.g. Silk Test).
The successful applicant will have:
• Minimum of four (4) to five (5) years’ experience in a commercial environment.
• University Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• S Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines, managing multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Manual Testing experience on desktop and hardware platforms.
• Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.
• Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; and takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
• Possesses, acquires, and maintains the technical/professional expertise required to do the job effectively and to create effective customer solutions.
• Technical/professional expertise is demonstrated through problem solving, applying technical knowledge, and product and service management for the functional area in which employee operates.
The position will be based in Balikpapan and reports directly to the Global Information Systems Manager in Brisbane.
