Plant Technical Advisor

About the role
Based at Thiess’s  Sangatta Project, in East Kalimantan Indonesia, as the Plant Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for the implementation of the cost management strategy for plant activities which is to align with the strategy of the Indonesian Plant Development.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist Planning in the development and implementation of an integrated planning process for major plant activities
  • Ensure plant operational activities are completed in a safe, timely, efficient, environmentally aware and cost conscious manner
  • Ensure there is effective utilisation of plant personnel and resources to achieve optimum performance in all facets
  • Manage the relevant mobile plant assets to ensure 90% availability by proactive and continuous improvements to the asset base
  • Lead, organise and provide direction for employees to ensure required performance is achieved in people performance, HSE&Q outcomes and the business results
  • Liaise with OEM’s, dealers and suppliers to purchase parts and to optimise plant operational and cost performance
About you
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
  • Trade Qualification or maintenance/engineering qualification
  • More than 5 years’ trade experience in mining/heavy equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the heavy plant business
  • Strong experience in coaching, menoring and staff management
  • Experience in project implementation
  • Strong computer literacy with the abilty to create and use advanced spreadsheet as well as database management applications

Deputy Project Manager

About the role
The Deputy Project Manager will ensure that human and capital terms to meet both client & TCI target while promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe environment for everyone at work. Reporting to the Project Manager and based on site on a 28/14 roster, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high quality solutions and result.

Some of your duties will include:
  • Assist the Project Manager to plan, lead, organise and control project resources, in human and equipment capital terms, to meet both client and TCI targets in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Co-ordinate establishment, monitoring and update of all project plans, budget, program resource requirements to ensure delivery of the project on time and to budget;
  • Manage site budgets; Meet budget productivity and utilisation rates;
  • Meet, as a minimum, overburden and coal mining targets in accordance with internally generated mine plans;
  • Constantly achieve, and exceed, benchmark KPI’s in terms of equipment performance, cost control, coal recovery and overall production targets;
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting;
  • Maximise profitability to satisfy or exceed financial goals of the project; identify areas for operational efficiency and deliver on commitments;
  • Actively investigate enhancement to procedures and process that achieve Improvements in performance, job satisfaction, and productivity;
  • Provide effective and ethical leadership which is innovative to the extent it needs to be to meet changing and challenging conditions;
  • Establish and maintain a harmonious client relationship to assist project delivery and enhance client satisfaction;
  • Manage relationship with subcontractors to ensure a high level of performance in terms of time, cost and quality;
  • Maintain good relations with community figure heads.
About you
What skills and experience do you need?

  • Tertiary qualification (degree) in Mine Engineering, Survey or related mining discipline – essential; must have 5 years experiences as a Deputy Project Manager Mining experience with stable employment background with a minimum of 10 years professional experience in large open cut coal mining operation of which at least two or three years in production/ service supervision/ management role.
  • Have experience at mine planning, subcontract management, cost management and managing staff; Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction / mining management principles and practices and the associated flow of design and construction / mining project management, Tendering process,Financial concepts; Hold POU certificate of Mine Energy Department is desirable; OHS&E requirements Legislative and statutory requirements
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; good in coaching/mentoring and negotiation/mediation; good analytical; conflict resolution; sound decision making skills; excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
